The detail in the mural is fantastic! The artists honed in on the many facets of our community. The heart sculpture at the library captures the beauty of the public art in our community. The Farmer’s Market on the Square has grown over the years and is held in front of the courthouse every summer.

Scholarships

Scholarships and Educational Grants are one of the finest ways a person can extend a portion of their estate, be it large or modest, to encourage young people on their pursuit of an education. Oftentimes, this encouragement is just what it takes to keep a young person educationally motivated.

In the 2022- 2023 school year, 107 scholarships totaling $237,900 were awarded. The Foundation has awarded over 3,300 scholarships in the past 57 years. There are now 96 scholarship funds. We host our annual scholarship breakfast to honor and celebrate our donors and scholarship recipients.

Youth Engaged In Philanthropy

Empowerment starts with belief – in oneself, in the power of community, and in the capacity to make a difference. Youth engaged in philanthropy and leadership carry the torch of change, igniting hope and shaping a brighter tomorrow.

The Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP) Program provides opportunities for youth to add their voice and action to important community issues. These issues are often those which are immediately impacting the greatest needs in our community, that are surrounded by a sense of urgency and importance, and in which youth input is clearly needed to more fully understand and address the issue. Actively addressing such community challenge generally requires a broad, collaborative effort to be successful.

In this program, students are taught how to recognize and how to seize opportunities for addressing community needs through grantmaking. The approach focuses on the students’ ability to be more engaged in decisions that impact youth and the community they live in. Students will proactively organize, plan and implement a course of action. This often requires a high degree of resourcefulness, ingenuity and collaboration with others.
